After researching options and waiting months for a custom-ordered dining table to arrive from a reputable furniture maker in Canada, a homeowner in Iowa Colony was thrilled to set up her new dining space. However, she soon noticed that the wood tabletop was absorbing stains far too easily. Spills from a hot coffee mug, a warm pot, and curry during dinner left noticeable rings and marks on the pristine wood surface.

Upon reaching out to the manufacturer, she discovered that the table had shipped completely unsealed because a protective topcoat finish had not been specifically selected during the ordering process. Working directly in the client's garage, we began the restoration by stripping the delicate wood surface and carefully sanding away the embedded food and heat stains. Once the wood was completely clean and smooth, we applied a high-quality pre-stain wood conditioner to ensure even absorption, followed by a protective coat of polyurethane.

High humidity and rain later that day delayed the curing process, prompting us to adjust our timeline. Rather than rushing the final steps, we returned for a third visit once the initial layers were fully dry to apply the final protective topcoat. The completed table is now fully sealed against future spills, beautifully showcasing its natural wood grain while offering long-term durability for family meals.
