Before and After Comparison
The Story Behind the Piece
A beloved ten-drawer white chest of drawers recently arrived at our shop in need of critical structural intervention. During a move, the heavy piece had been dropped or struck, knocking its frame out of alignment. To make matters worse, a heavy television was subsequently placed on top, which caused the center of the chest to sag significantly. Because this chest belonged to a matching eight-piece suite, repairing it was essential to keeping the entire set intact.
To address the severe sag and prevent future structural failure, we reinforced the underside of the frame by crafting and installing two additional support legs directly in the center. This crucial addition distributes weight evenly to the floor, instantly correcting the alignment of the drawer tracks and restoring the dresser's structural integrity.
With the frame stabilized and leveled, we addressed the aesthetic damage. We repaired all the nicks, chips, and dents accumulated during the move, then applied a fresh, seamless coat of matching white paint to the top surface. The result is a fully restored, structurally sound piece that fits perfectly back into its matching suite, ready for many more years of daily use.
