Move Gone Wrong, Family Table Made Strong Again

A move left this family dining table so unstable that it could not be safely reassembled. We rebuilt the damaged base stronger than the original and returned the family gathering table to its home.

Before and After Comparison

Before-and-after comparison of a move-damaged dining-table base and the fully restored family table.
From an unstable base damaged in transit to a family dining table rebuilt stronger than the original.

The Story Behind the Piece

The damage began with a move.

This formal dining table should have been transported with its base and legs taken apart and protected as separate pieces. Instead, the movers carried and stored the base as one assembled structure.

As the cargo shifted back and forth during transportation, forces traveled through joints that were never meant to absorb that kind of movement. Hidden fasteners began to loosen and pull free. By the time the table arrived, the base had lost its stability and could no longer be safely put back together.

The couple brought us the damaged base with very little hope that it could be restored.

At first glance, the problem looked like loosened legs. But the real failure was deeper. The original hidden connections had been compromised, and simply tightening the old hardware would not have produced a dependable repair.

The base needed to be rebuilt as a structure.

We corrected the failed connections, restored the alignment of the legs and rails, and reinforced the assembly so it would be stronger than it had been before the move. The goal was not merely to make the wobble disappear for the moment. The table needed to stand securely through years of family meals and gatherings.

Once the repaired base was returned to the customer's home, the tabletop was secured back in place.

The table that could not be safely assembled after the move was whole again—stable, functional, and ready to return to the center of family life.

“Great price

My formal dining table was damaged so much in our recent move, we could not put it back together with any stability. A friend of mine found Mend My Furniture online, and I took the table legs to them for repair. They did such a great job with the repairs that the table is more stable now than it was even before our move. Great people, they did a great job for a more than reasonable price. Thank you so much for giving us back our family gathering table.”

A move may have pulled the table apart.

Careful reconstruction gave the family back the place where they come together.
